Universal City Walk's Hard Rock Cafe, standing tall amidst the latest wave of novelty stores to join the valley's answer to Madison Square Garden, hosted Lily's Siren, an aptly named rock ensemble made up of super talents Lucy Levinsohn on lead vocals, Marc Minarik on lead guitar, Daniel Smith on bass, Dina Torok on background vocals and keyboards, and Steve McCartney on drums. With an explosive energy that would send Sadam's head spinning, the fab five took up their bountiful instruments and rang through the three-story institution of rock with a shrine to the Beatles as their backdrop.
Donning cool casual digs and glowing smiles, this gang is startlingly with it: never
missing a note or beat throughout their forty minute set, all the while coordinating body flow to a polished, electric, pure rock sound. Lucy and Dina kick your ass with an "I-know-what-I-want-and-what-you're-all-about" musical dialogue that also invokes conversations between Lucy and Mark and the band as a whole. They set a good table, too, with everything from t-shirts to bumper stickers, mugs, videos, and CDs. To use the titles of their prophetically named songs, Lily's Siren will definitely "Take the World." Wouldn't that be a "Good Day?"
