Extreme Dancing
Dancing in itself is a natural, primitive force which most of us take for granted. However, there is a minority in the population that take dancing very seriously...to the extreme. We've watched, emulated and just plain danced major choreographers Martha Graham and Rosie Perez, not really knowing or understanding how difficult, disciplined and passionate "the dance" really is.

Two men have brought their dancing, choreography and passion to an exciting forefront. At the Key Club last month Kimo Keoke and Carey Ysais presented L.A. "The Carnival: A Choreographer's Ball" showcasing 10 different choreographers in a 2-Act show. The night was an explosion of talent, fantasy and pure drive. In the show was powerhouse choreographer Stacey Keathley, whose dance company N-2-IT is something to watch for. This woman could probably take 40 couch potatoes and in 8 hours create a scene right out of a modern day West Side Story. So is the "Drunken Buddha: a Sushi Experience," another show that this balanced-partnership of Keoke and Ysais are opening next to Paramount Studios on Melrose this April. Hey, if the studios need to eat and cast some dancers, it'll be a hop, skip and a jump away. For info contact "The Carnival" at the Key Club in West Hollywood; call Kimo 323-951-0188; for info on Stacey Keathley's Dance Class 323-962-7733. -Anthony McBride
